5 Tips to Make Your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer
By: Daliah M.
As I was sitting at the front desk today, all of you lash-loving ladies came to mind and I thought, Hmm, I should share some tips on how to keep eyelash extensions on longer! So I compiled the 5 most important tips I came across on my internet search and hope that these pointers will help you care better for your lovely lashes.
Tip #1: Sleep on your back
This is supper important at least for the first 24-48 hours after getting your extensions, as the glue takes some time to dry. By sleeping on your back, you avoid forming weird kinks on the lashes from your face pressing against your pillow. If you can manage it, try sleeping on your back regularly and your lashes will thank you.
Tip #2: Comb them regularly
A spoolie wand is your eyelash extensions best friend. Brushing your lashes with a clean spoolie will keep them from crisscrossing and looking like a tangled hot mess. You can do this regularly, especially in the mornings as you get ready for the day and after you shower.
Tip #3: Baby those lashes
Yes, I said “baby those lovely lashes!” You just paid top dollars for a luxury service, so it makes sense to care for your investment. As silly as it may sound, lash extensions need TLC and need to be taken care of like the work of art they are.
Always remove eye makeup gently by using makeup remover wipes and avoid using cotton pads, as the fibers will get stuck in your lashes. If you’ve done this before, you know how annoying it is to pick out those fibers from your lashes and how easily you can rip out your natural lashes and extensions while you’re at it.
Tip #4: Nurture your natural lashes
Most lash places will tell you how to care for your lash extensions, but they forget that your extensions are only as good as the state of your natural lashes. A good foundation for the extension is important, so fortifying your natural lashes by using a lash conditioner or a lash growth serum will allow the extensions to better adhere.
Tip #5: Don’t touch!
By this I mean don’t pull, don’t tug, and don’t play with your lashes. We are all guilty of doing this because our natural inclination is to touch and feel the extensions once we get them. Some of us also tend to pull or tug at those lashes that are dangling on a hair and holding on for their dear life. It’s best to allow the lashes to go through their natural cycle and fall out on their time, avoiding pulling out your own natural hairs.
Hope these tips help you keep and maintain your lashes looking gorgeous!
